Steps to Optimize Windows Start up Process Using CCleaner

After installing many programs on Windows, It may slow down your Windows Start up process. Because, Some programs may be added to system start up with or with out the user consent. You can find and disable those items to speed up your  system start up process using a free and popular program called CCleaner made by Piriform. CCleaner is a number 1system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history, Cookies, Temporary internet files, Autocomplete form history and saved passwords. It works with most browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, IE, Safari and more.

Apart from removing unused files from the computer, CCleaner also have tools such as Program uninstaller, Registry cleaner, Drive wiper, Startup optimizer and System restore. Here I am describing the steps to optimize the start-up of the Windows using CCleaner through keyboard navigation with the help of JAWS screen reader.

Open the CCleaner from the Desktop or Start menu.
Use Tab key and hit enter on “Tools” button or use shortcut key ALT+T.
Use Tab key again and hit enter on “Start up” button.
Now reach in the start up items list by using Tab key. Once you reach in the list view, you will be in Windows tab where you can manage various programs that running in start up. Here you will here “Yes HKCU:Run followed by program name and program location” or “No” instead of “Yes”.
“Yes” indicates the item is active and “No” the item is not active.
To disable active items from the start up, First select the item, then press Tab twice, now cursor will focus on “Disable” button and Click enter. If you want to permanently remove this item from the start up, tab again and click on “Delete”. Note: Please don’t disable or remove system drivers and other programs like antivirus and Jaws from the start up. It may affect your system performance. If you remove or disable it, you need to start those items one by one after Windows log on. To choose right one to disable, Please read the program name and program location carefully. Just disable unknown items instead of deleting. You can enable previously disabled items later if needed.
There  are 3 other tabs such as Internet Explorer, Schedule tasks and Context menu. To focus to these tabs, Press Tab once from the list view and Press Ctrl+Tab. Here you can manage various Toolbars and Plug ins that associated with Internet explorer.
In the next tab, you can manage scheduled items such as Flash Player updates and more at start up. At last in Context menu tab, You can disable unwanted context menu items. After all, just close the window, restart the windows and see the magic!. If you feel any necessary item disabled from the start up, Use above steps and enable them.
