We are so glad to inform you that RCG SRVC Centre has started the registration for the admission to the 8th batch of computer training for the visually challenged. The details are given below.
About RCG SRVC
RCG SRVC Centre is a training centre which provides computer training exclusively to visually challenged youth. This centre is established and run by an NGO named RCG SRVC which is set up in 2008 by the collaboration of RCG (Rotary Club of Cochin Global) and SRVC (Society for the Rehabilitation of Visually Challenged).
RCG SRVC Centre which is being set up with the vision and mission of empowering the visually challenged people by making them computer literate, fluent in English, added with good confidence and personality and ultimately enabling them to have a good job and to stand on their own leg as a strong support to their family, and as a very good motivation and role model to the other visually challenged persons.
Course content:
The course content is designed and developed in view of the maximum benefit to the students. It is also updated frequently to include the fast growing developments in the IT field.
Here we are providing 8 month computer course to the visually challenged students
Our course content is divided in to four modules as follows.
1. Computer:-
Introduction to Microsoft windows (Windows XP & Windows 7),
Orientation of Different screen reading software like JAWS, NVDA etc.
MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point-2003 & 2007)
Internet browsing, e-mailing,
Scanning, editing and reading books,
Installation of Operating system and application software.
Installation and maintenance of PC and network.
Introduction to Linux.
Introduction to DAISY
Assembling the physical components of a desk top computer.
The different computer concepts are being taught with the help of different assistive techniques like tactile diagrams, audio materials, etc.
2. Communicative English:-
This is helpful to make our students confident and efficient to communicate in good English which is very essential and to make them employable.
3. Mobility and orientation:-
Different techniques like sighted guided technique, mobility using white cane, etc. are taught to make the students fit to walk safely and independently in different situations
4. Personality development and soft skill training:-
The purpose of which is to improve the personality of the visually challenged persons acceptable and adaptable to all types of modern work environment so that they can keep up all the expected standards of behavior in different situations.
Duration: 8 months
Timing: 9 am to 4.30 pm (Monday to Saturday)
Mode of selection:
Based on aptitude test and personal interview

1. +2/PDC or above (Students having the qualification less than +2 also will be selected in some special cases)

Other details:
• We are running the course in collaboration with Enable India Bangalore. We are following the curriculum of Enable India and the final exam and assessments will be conducted by them.
• The course is given absolutely free of cost.
• Free hostel facility is available separately for boys and girls.
• Students will be given the permission and facilities to prepare their food in the hostel. The training to prepare food also will be given.
• The transportation between the hostel and the centre also is arranged.
• The transportation expenses from the home place of the student to the Centre and return will not be refunded by the Centre.
• After the successful completion of the course we will help the students to find the employment opportunities in different companies and organizations. But the performance of the students in the job interview will be the main criterion for getting the job. More than 70% of our students have been successfully employed in different companies and institutions.
